Emergency Sugar Mama/Daddy REQUIRED [Mar. 2nd, 2009|10:07 am]
OK. This is not a joke, it's not funny, and it is dire.

I am so poor right now, I can't even pay attention.

Leonard Cohen is coming to town April 3rd 2009, and I don't have a ticket. Unless one of my peeps takes me, I can not go.
That would be a tragedy I will never recover from, as he is in his 70s, and it is not likely that I will ever have the chance to see him again. He is my ultimate favorite poet and musician, and I have memories of my mother singing "Suzanne" to me when I was a baby.

It would mean the world to me to see him in person.

This is my 3rd cry for help, and not my final. I will wail and moan and cry until someone decides to take me.

I will be the prettiest date you ever had. I will wear either my 1950s see through lace dress, or my 1930s dragon lady dress (once owned by the famous dancer "Mimi"), your choice. And I will cook for you, make you some jewelry, and a hat. Or make you a another piece of art.

I am seriously begging, and I am desperate. If you love Leonard Cohen as much as I do, then you understand why I have been reduced to begging.

I know the tickets are expensive, but if you are going anyways, what's one more ticket? Really, I will clean your house, and do your chores. I will organize your messy computer.

Let me know your terms.

Cry me a river. The only tickets left in Austin are between 250 and 1500. I can't go, and I'm very sad about it. If only I'd been on the case last Wed morning and not feeling ornery about spending 85. That was the cheap seat price. They sold out in two hours, about the time I decided I was spendy enough to go for it, even thought I was going alone.

Anyway, good luck!

Also, NPR has a free podcast of the 3 hour concert he did at the Beacon Theater in NYC at the beginning of the tour.

Well, don't even try to discourage me.

Why the fuck would I do that? I think you're brilliant, and I wish I had thought of it, but if I had, it would have just made trouble for me ;)

So, you're feeling some better now, I'm guessing? When are you coming to see me?

As soon as I can afford the fuel for the trip there and back. :(

We have another (nearly) stolen robot story, I'll tell you in another forum. Long story short, we are scrambling to buy soy milk for the Goat until something shakes loose.

New York Serendipity

I'm not going to be of direct help to you other than perhaps providing inspiration of the "miracles can happen" sort. You see, I flew to New York for the Leonard Cohen concert at the Beacon Theater, got an extra ticket by a fluke, and ended up hosting a wonderful young woman for the show that evening. We both felt fortunate afterward. I wrote up the story at http://1heckofaguy.com/2009/02/25/the-half-sister-of-mercy-leonard-cohen-me/

Good luck.
